During the pandemic I have been continuously working on the series LETTERS TO THOSE I LOVE. These are letter size works on paper or photographs using a wide variety of materials with hand embroidery and often brief original text. I began the piece for The Uninvited Project as a larger horizontal collage but it eventually also became a vertical letter size work. I included Carla Nappi’s evocative line “I’d run if there had been a where to run to, out beyond the shrivelled space of now”. Although this was written a few years ago, it speaks so deeply to the moment we are living right now. I tried to express the sense of destruction in The Uninvited but also the image of sunrises and sunsets from outer space.
